Rare antique Bourdon & Richard metallic aneroid barometer, likely dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. The piece has a circular brass or lacquered brass case with hanging ring, glass front, card dial, and visible internal mechanism.

The dial is marked “Metallic Barometer” and features traditional weather readings including Stormy, Much Rain, Rain, Change, Fair, Set Fair and Very Dry. A striking and highly decorative scientific instrument with a lovely aged appearance, ideal for collectors of antique barometers, Victorian interiors, weather instruments and decorative brass pieces.

The movement appears present, but due to the age of the instrument, accuracy and functionality are not guaranteed. It is being sold as an antique decorative and collectable piece.

The barometer has age-related wear throughout, including patina, tarnish, surface marks, wear to the brass/lacquered finish, and some distress/wear to the card dial and edges. It has a wonderful authentic antique look and displays beautifully.

A great piece for collectors of Bourdon & Richard barometers, antique scientific instruments, Victorian barometers, brass wall décor, weather instruments and unusual decorative antiques.
