Large Crackle Glazed Classical Venus de Milo Style Statue

A striking large-scale classical figure inspired by the famous Venus de Milo (Aphrodite of Milos), presented in an attractive ivory/cream crackle glaze.

The statue depicts a classically styled female figure with her arms absent, standing in the characteristic pose associated with the Venus de Milo, with finely modelled drapery falling around the lower body. The entire surface has been finished with an attractive all-over crackle glaze, giving the piece its distinctive character and decorative appeal.

A later ceramic interpretation of the famous Venus de Milo (Aphrodite of Milos), the sculpture captures the timeless character of the classical original while the crackle-glazed finish gives it a particularly attractive decorative quality. The maker and exact date of manufacture are unknown.

A substantial and decorative statement piece which would work particularly well in a traditional, classical, country house or eclectic interior. Equally suitable as a standalone decorative sculpture in a hallway, living room, bedroom, study or conservatory.

The extensive fine crackling throughout the ivory glaze is an integral part of the finish and gives the sculpture its distinctive aged character. There are also some minor marks and signs of previous display, which can be seen in the photographs.
